Therese Coveney, Founder
Therese has a Masters degree in Sociology and over 15 years experience in social care and care management, from emergency services for young girls in crisis to managing national mental health resilience programmes in secondary schools and more recently home care planning for the elderly. She has a little girl, April who has Down syndrome. She is 8. Since her birth Therese has been actively involved in her care and development, much of it through the Down Syndrome Centre.
In 2017 she was invited to join the Board of the Down Syndrome Centre. She left the Board in 2018 to lead the development of what has become the Together Academy initiative with the support of the DSC and a private donor.
Cathy is an Employment Support Specialist in the area of disability. She holds a Bachelors degree in Human Resources. Cathy has a son with Down syndrome and is an advocate not only for Alex who is 9 but also for his peers. She has been involved in several initiatives to raise awareness for people with Down syndrome. Cathy has an interest in the area of training and employment for young adults with Down syndrome, specifically creating meaningful work opportunities for this community.
