We are thrilled to announce that Happy Out & Together Academy have opened a brand new, unique café based at the historic Dun Laoghaire Baths in July 2023!
Following a public tender process by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Happy Out and Together Academy have been chosen to operate a unique new café at the Baths in Dun Laoghaire. This marks an incredible, inclusive partnership opportunity for both organisations who have deep roots in the gorgeous Dublin Bay coast.
In 2017, Happy Out was established in two repurposed shipping containers, offering delicious coffee and toasties to the bathers and walkers on Bull Island. Expanding in 2020, their Donnybrook outlet has become one of the busiest brunch spots in Dublin.
The Together Academy is a unique social enterprise in Dublin, supported by the Down syndrome centre, that provides young adults with Down syndrome (Ds) certified training, practical work experience, employment opportunities and a critical social and support network. Operating in Wanderers Rugby Club, with the support of DDLETB, the Together Academy is training young adults in culinary skills and supporting their learning in a modern, dynamic, popular training café.
Happy Out at the Dun Laoghaire Baths offers the local community a top quality, urban and inclusive café staffed by an integrated team from Happy Out and Together Academy graduates.
The collaboration between Happy Out Cafe and Together Academy began when Brian Hanratty of Happy Out, was inspired by Together Academy’s vision of inclusion and employment for young adults with Down syndrome. Lending his knowledge and expertise, training students and advising on set up, Together Café opened in 2022 to rave reviews.
At Happy Out Dun Laoghaire Baths, an atmosphere of fun, empathy, and true inclusion will the accompany great food, coffee and wonderful service synonymous with the Happy Out and Together Cafe. This much loved seaside site now has a café as unique as the view. Join us for a cuppa and view!
